OUR HIGHLAND SIRES

Outback Chippawa Joe
Outback Chippawa Joe is one of three bulls I purchased as short yearlings in 1986 from the Hogates in Northern Minnesota. Of these three bulls, I considered Chip the most functional. His greatest attribute is his ability to stay in very good flesh on poor pasture or mediocre hay. He passes on this characteristic to his progeny. Chip also improves beef conformation, feet and udders in his progeny. He is an aggressive breeder and very easy to handle.
Baker's Cube Mountain Randy
Baker's Cube Mountain Randy was chosen as a potential herd sire over eight contemporaries from my 1989 calf crop. He has developed into one of the most functional bulls I have bred since we started raising Highlanders in 1971. Randy combines all the positive traits of his sire, Chip, with the great brood cow qualities of fertility and motherability from my Genine cow line . We use Randy for line breeding and on stock we have purchased from other breeders and are very impressed with his progeny.
Maple Lea Crofter
After considering over twenty yearling bulls during the winter and spring of 1994, I purchased Maple Lea Crofter from the Badgers of Quebec, Canada in June of that year. I selected him on the basis of his disposition, large scrotal diameter, libido, dam's udder and his feet as well as those of his sire and dam. I hoped he would '"nick" in a very positive manner with my heifers to produce extremely functional females. His first calf crop is currently (June, 1996) fifteen months of age and we are pleased with their quality. They possess good frames, disposition and feet.
